Pamela Howard
Pamela Howard worked as a Stage Designer in the UK, Europe and USA since 1960, and has realised over 200 productions. She has worked at all the major National and regional theatres, including the creation of several large scale site specific works in Glasgow with the late John McGrath. Since 2000 she has been developing her work as Director/ Scenographer for 20th Century opera and music theatre. In 2005 Director/Scenographer for the Greek premiere of The Greek Passion - opera by Bohuslav Martinu & Nikos Kazantzakis for the Opera of Thessaloniki performed in the old Byzantine citadel/ former town’s prison. . 2005 for University of the Arts Belgrade and BITEF Festival creator of Please take a Seat! - an original memory play. Productions as part of teaching assignments in 2005 for the National Theatre school in Copenhagen Why do you always wear Black ?, and A Labour of Love ( 2006 ). 2006 Visiting professor Carnegie Mellon University Pittsburgh USA Department of Drama. Staging of 3 Fragments from The Marriage from the opera by Bohuslav Martinu at the Gallery of Contemporary Art Pittsburgh. 2008/9 Director/Scenographer The Marriage for Martinu Revisited Festival at National Theatre Janacek Opera BRNO Czech Republic, staged at the Reduta Theatre ( 1st professional production in English ) and at La Fabrika Prague June 2011. 2009/10/11 Project designer for the The Great Game ( Tricycle Theatre London/USA Tour ) Director Nicholas Kent. Director/scenographer : Premiere of 1st version The Excursion of Mr Broucek to the Moon ( Leos Janacek ) National Theatre BRNO CZ for Janacek International Festival 2010. 2011/12 Three fragments for Sarlatan ( Pavel Haas) for Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Glasgow prior to full performance of 1st version in English in Scotland and International Janacek Festival CZ 2012.
