MATT PARRY is the creator and writer/director for The Opus Pocus children’s classical music project.  Its first release, 1001 Arabian Nights, stars Brian Blessed & Rory Bremner and is currently being developed as both a comic-book/CD series and a live theatre production:

With The Opus Pocus, Matt has pioneered a new dramatic genre of ‘symphonic melodrama’ whereby great works of classical or instrumental music are transformed into soundtracks to plays, films or other media through carefully writing and directing a script that super-imposes the musical score.  Other projects (for adults) include Juliet & Her Romeo, an adaptation of Romeo & Juliet set to Prokofiev's ballet score, and a retelling of the tragedy of Guernica's bombing during the Spanish Civil War set to Miles Davis' Sketches of Spain.  See for more details.

Matt's other career is as a professional trombone player, who studied at the Royal Academy of Music after a degree in mathematics from King's College London.  He has performed with hundreds of orchestras, opera & ballet companies, big bands, pop bands and contemporary music ensembles, and now mostly works with musical theatre shows, including recent UK & international tours of Hairspray, Funny Girl and Chicago.  Alongside this he has taught hundreds of students of all ages and abilities for various music services around London, and created The Opus Pocus project specifically to address the need for a modern, fun, subversive introduction to classical music for children.
